Indian Head Massage is a centuries-old alternative therapy, a therapeutic treatment that has been practised in India for thousands of years. . It is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system that aims to clear blocks in the energy channels and in turn restore balance and inner harmony. The belief is that when the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress and pain, an Indian Head Massage can help release tension in the muscles and joints of the head, neck, face, shoulders and upper back. The experience is deeply calming and relaxing.


The treatment for an Indian head massage is carried out in a seated position and head, face (optional), neck, upper back and shoulders are worked on. The treatment can be given with or without oils but the use of oil is recommended as it provides a more relaxing and enjoyable experience. Oils also help with to moisturise the skin and hair and can help to relax tired muscles

Regular Indian Head Massage can help to stimulate the blood flow to the hair follicles , releasing tension from the scalp and encourage nutrients and growth for strong and healthy hair. Oils can be incorporated to help with dry hair and scalp.



Soothing for Eyes and Sinuses


Indian Head Massage treatment also involves working on the pressure points on the forehead, cheeks and around the eye sockets. The focus on the pressure points can help to relax the area soothing the muscles and releasing strain from the eyes and relieve blocked sinuses.


Reduce Headaches


Indian Head Massage focuses on relieving tension from the scalp and the neck and the release on these areas can help reduce stress related headaches. With regular treatments the frequency and the intensity of stress -related headaches can reduce as the massage focusses on releasing tension and promoting relaxation


What to expect


The massage usually lasts about 50 minutes, although a 30 minute massage can also be arranged. A thorough consultation is given at the first treatment and short follow ups at successive treatments.

The treatment is carried out in a seated position and head, face (optional), neck, upper back and shoulders are worked on. The treatment can be given with or without oils but the use of oil is recommended as it provides a more relaxing and enjoyable experience. Oils also help with to moisturise the skin and hair and can help to relax tired muscles. The treatment can be given through clothing, although this is not ideal. The client will normally be asked to wrap a towel or sarong around their body to ensure warmth and modesty. Every effort will be made to provide a truly relaxing experience.
