The Summer Yin classes are designed to cool and balance the excess fire and energy that grows over a hot summer. As fire is felt most strongly in the Summer these sessions are the perfect tonic to replenish and renew. Yin is a passive practice, and a good description for the practice is juicy and nourishing in body. mentally challenging for the mind. The breath is key in this style of practice . Yin originates from Chinese philosophes and principles- opening and unblocking the energy running through the body. The practice for the most part consists of seated and laying down poses. The sessions incorporate full body stretches held for between 3 -5 minutes and will help release the heat and heaviness of Summer. Yin targets the deep connective tissues and teaches you how to breathe through the discomfort of the long stretches and be with your thoughts. The session will incorporate 45 minutes of Yin practice followed by a 15 minute relaxation and laying down meditation ( a mini yoga nidra )
